Business Challenge

Nurture Life provides nutritious meals and snacks for kids to help parents get back some of their personal time. As the business has steadily grown year over year since 2016, the team started to see inefficiencies with shipping operations spread across multiple systems.

In particular, 5 challenges emerged:

  1. Continuity — With multiple systems handling carrier rates, surcharges, and rules, it was cumbersome to ensure all systems were in sync.
  2. Multiple Dashboards — With carrier management, rate shopping, label printing, and tracking spread across multiple systems, the team saw efficiency drop when trying to manage shipping operations, like analyzing performance or troubleshooting exceptions.
  3. Upkeep — Certain systems had better experiences and newer capabilities than others, which started to create scenarios where doing one thing in one solution couldn't be matched in another.
  4. Integration — Nurture Life built several excellent internal tools that required shipping technology to integrate and fit to their needs. Certain systems experienced challenges when interfacing with internal tools and workflows.
  5. Financial Operations & Analysis — With multiple datasets spread across multiple systems, the financial and operations teams struggled to consolidate data into a view that would help with analysis.

Nurture Life turned to Shipium to centralize their shipping operations to a single system that improved operational efficiency and continuity.

The team connected Shipium’s platform with Orderbot’s OMS capabilities for a seamless fit for shipping execution within their improved order flow.

One Location for Configuration — Using the Shipium Console, the team can now manage all carriers, contracts, surcharges, rules, and more from a central location. Furthermore, as the needs of the business could change in the future as it continues to grow, adding new carriers or origins is a snap and doesn't require re-configuration or duplication.
